In a remote community outside central Malawi, students at Chikondi Primary School experienced a major transformation when a volunteer team installed a solar-powered digital learning hub.

For years, the school struggled with no electricity and limited access to modern learning tools. Lessons were entirely chalk-and-board based, and students had never accessed the internet.

The initiative brought solar panels, refurbished laptops, and offline educational content preloaded for classroom use.

Teachers were trained to integrate digital tools into their lessons, allowing students to explore interactive science modules, educational videos, and basic computer skills.

One teacher described the moment students first saw a working laptop as “a turning point in the history of our school.”

The project continues to expand, with plans to connect more rural schools in the region.
